Ariana P. A Perfect Fit!

Occupation:
Administrative Assistant

Arianna P. was referred by her treatment provider to the Rockland Satellite of the White Plains ACCES-VR Office in 2016. During the life of her case, ACCES-VR funded Cognitive Rehabilitation, Work Readiness Training, Community Based Work Experiences, and an intensive Medical Billing and Coding training program to assist Ariana to develop vocational skills on her journey to employment. Rockland BOCES provided instruction and community rehabilitation provider Jawonio delivered programmatic support at this lengthy intensive training program.

Upon program completion, Ariana began seeking employment and Jawonio provided individualized job development services. In the end, she was unable to locate a medical billing and coding position. However, during her job search, Ariana was notified that Rockland County was seeking to expand their Office of People with Disabilities staff.  They were specifically seeking a candidate who would be sensitive to the needs of this community. Several job candidates were referred to interview for this position and Ariana was the candidate selected. ACCES-VR then assisted Ariana by providing her with a 55-a certification to obtain municipal employment. Ariana was hired by the County of Rockland as an Office and Administrative Support Worker and she successfully works at the County Office complex in Pomona, NY. Ariana provides administrative support for Jacki Scott, the Rockland County Director of The Office for People with Disabilities. She works 35 hours per week and earns a competitive salary for this region. Ariana is extremely happy at her new job, and Jacki Scott is very satisfied with Ariana’s job performance. She described Ariana as a perfect fit for her office and could not say enough about her strong work ethic.
